Sample letter to neighbor about a dead tree removal request
Dear [name]
I am writing to enquire about the safety of your tree. I have noticed that the branches have been hanging dangerously close to our house and property line. In case of a storm, I fear that we may not be eligible for insurance coverage if any branches are damaged or brought down by falling debris.
Please let me know what your intentions are with this tree so we can resolve this matter.
Dear _______,
I noticed the other day that your elm tree is sick. I’m not sure if you know, but Dutch Elm disease has been spreading in our neighborhood. Your tree seems to have the telltale yellowing of the leaves and bark discoloration that are symptoms of Dutch Elm disease. If this is the case, I would recommend cutting down the tree before it dies, as dead trees can be a real hazard. If you’re unsure about what to do, check with the city arborist or a certified arborist. The sooner you take care of this problem, the better!
Let me know if there’s anything I can do to help.
Sincerely,
